The first aerial survey for Oceanic manta rays in Aotearoa
In mid-2024, we got behind the work of Lydia Green, marine scientist and founder of Manta Watch NZ. Her research had reached a critical point in their efforts to better understand Oceanic manta rays and their use of New Zealand waters.
Award-winning circularity in the fashion industry
Nearly half a tonne of clothing waste was heaped onto the floor of the Ponsonby Central Saphire Room on Wednesday 25th September 2024. The installation represents the amount of fabric sent to landfill every five minutes in Aotearoa.

Centre for Sustainable Finance (CSF) welcomed the announcement by Minister of Climate Change, Hon. Simon Watts that the New Zealand Government is partnering with CSF to develop a sustainable finance strategy for Aotearoa New Zealand.

When the Environment Select Committee unanimously approved the Hauraki Gulf Marine Protection Bill, we saw politicians come together from across the different parties, agreeing that Tīkapa Moana te Moananui a Toi – the Hauraki Gulf needs better protection.
Cleantech startups working for a better future
In 2020, Creative HQ trialed the Climate Response Accelerator programme. Their aim was to ‘enable New Zealand’s early stage Cleantech startups to access the support, funding and tools needed to create a more sustainable future’.
How do we know it’s working?
Advocacy, as many comms and marketing folk know, is often hard to measure. But, when a country’s laws are created or changed because of the work of those advocates, a line can be drawn between the things they did, and the difference it has made.
