Accelerating innovation for ocean health
As a member, Whakatupu Aotearoa Foundation joins a network of international peers committed to supporting ocean startups and strengthening ecosystem connectivity across diverse regions and ocean verticals.
Through this, we will continue to contribute to this valuable kaupapa by supporting ocean startups and programmes in Aotearoa, providing capital, acceleration, or innovation support - while collaborating with fellow 10000OS members to scale solutions for ocean health.

The 1000 Ocean Startups coalition unites the global ecosystem of incubators, accelerators, competitions, matching platforms, and VCs supporting startups with the mission to restore ocean health and achieve SDG14. This is one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (or SDGs) which make up part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations member states in 2015 in a global partnership. SDG14 focuses on life below water: “to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.”
Today, 1000OS is the largest global ocean innovation network.

TMNZ invests 100% of profits in Whakatupu Aotearoa Foundation, to support a restored and thriving Aotearoa. The Foundation’s mission is to catalyse transformation in areas of crucial vulnerability, particularly supporting a resilient natural environment and thriving communities - for future generations.
